Radon is a colorless, odorless and radioactive gas that is the second leading cause of lung cancer. The only way to determine your level of exposure is by testing. Per U.S. EPA guidelines, if test results indicate your radon exposure is higher than 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter) you should consider ways to reduce the radon level present in the home.
The Wisconsin State Department of Health is an excellent place to learn more about your risks from radon as well as how to lower radon levels in your home. |
In Wisconsin, 25% of the homes have a radon level of over 4 pCI/L. In some areas more than 50% of the homes have a radon level of over 4 pCi/L.
Protect your family. Schedule a radon test so you know the level in your home. |

1. Twelve hours prior to the start of the test and during the testing period, "closed house" conditions will need to be observed.
2. The radon monitor is placed in the lowest livable level of the home. 3. The radon monitor will take a measurement every hour during the testing period. 4. The monitor is picked up from the home, data downloaded and a report created stating the EPA protocol average level during the testing period. |
